May I suggest another title to the list offered by Henry Frendo to replace the jarring name of MCP.
Il-Ġnien tal-Papri or perhaps the apt English version of The Swans’ Park, is not only mellifluous and harmonious but also reminiscent of the original area.
MCP camouflaged the wartime crater but created a gaping hole as ominous asIl-Maqluba, but lacking its luscious greenery.
Now that the parking area will be buried underground, perhaps the entrepreneurs will be generous enough to give old Florianites the opportunity of our younger days to feed and admire the circling swans.
Incidentally, I recall a verse from the Dragon Book of Verse, the bible of the Old Lyceum: Swans sing before they die; It were no good thing; If we die before we sing.
