I write in response to the editorial published on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, ‘A helping hand for a helpline’. In particular, this editorial proposes the need for a supportline which operates online using chat, email and an app. To this end, I would like to introduce Kellimni.com.

Kellimni.com is a joint effort between SOS Malta, the Salesians of Don Bosco, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and Aġenzija Appoġġ, under the guidance of Child Helpline International.

Support being offered encompasses e-mail, chat, smart-messaging and forum. Smart messaging is available through the Kellimni.com app which is downloadable free of charge from the App Store and Play Store.

Alternatively, youths can send an e-mail through the Kellimni.com website. Smart messaging and email will be replied to within 12 hours of submitting a message (excluding Sundays).

Youths can also chat with operators to receive immediate real-time support through the website Kellimni.com from Monday to Friday, 7pm to 11pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm.

Additionally, youths can share their experiences with other youths through the Kellimni.com forum.

Kellimni.com is aimed at young people who want someone to listen to them and who can provide assistance. It allows service users to express their concerns and talk about the issues directly affecting them.

Young people need to know that they are not alone, that someone outside of their immediate surroundings cares about them, that their life can be free from pain and fear.

The service is providing an opportunity to all young people to reach out for help and support in both English and Maltese through frequently and easily accessible channels of communication.
