A new course is being organised to help inmates referred for probation or parole to reintegrate into society.

The initiative is being offered by the Department of Probation and Parole within the Justice Ministry, together with the voluntary organisation Mid-Dlam Għad-Dawl, which works with inmates. It would be funded by the Malta Community Chest Fund, the government said.

About 950 people have so far been referred to the department by the courts.

Those who feel they need support as they prepare to leave prison will be able to attend the course.
