Summer lasted throughout September this year where Malta enjoyed 255 hours of sunshine and high temperatures up to 31°C, according to Malta International Airport’s Met Office.

The average air temperature was 25.2°C, which is 1.1°C warmer than the norm.

The night temperature was warmer by 1.5°C, with the lowest recorded temperature being 18.3°C.

Last month was also drier than usual, with only 31.6 mm of rain compared with the average of 40.4 mm. Despite this, the Maltese islands were hit by five days of thunderstorms on September 2, 3, 4, 5 and 16.
