A man driving a sulky was critically injured yesterday afternoon in a collision with a car on the outskirts of Mġarr.

The horse bolted but was reined in unhurt after a short time.

The damaged sulky ended up against a wall by the side of the road.

The police said the injured man is 33 and the driver of the car, who was also uninjured, is 80.

The accident occurred in Triq Għajn Tuffieħa at about 5 pm.

A magisterial inquiry is under way, the police said.
