The Resources Ministry has replaced 50 trees that were illegally uprooted from Verdala Street, Rabat recently.

Condemning this act of vandalism, Minister George Pullicino met St Aloysius College students who embarked on a tree-planting project run in collaboration with Bank of Valletta.

Now in its seventh year, the project has about 60 students producing compost, collecting and sowing seeds, watering the saplings and transplanting them into larger pots.

The trees are then passed to the ministry for use in embellishment works around the islands.
