The University Students’ Council claims it was the victim of sabotage after some 300 pizzas were covered in salt yesterday.

The frozen fast food was meant to be used during the KSU’s first pizza day, a fundraising event ahead of the annual student fest.

But the plans went sour when more than €300 worth of pizzas were ruined.

KSU president Thomas Bugeja said the pizzas were delivered to a canteen staff member at Student House on campus.

The seven crates of half-frozen pizzas were later found dumped beside the entrance and covered in what appeared to be several kilos of salt.

The police were called in and Mr Bugeja said the pizza deliveryman had identified the canteen employee who had received the consignment.

Attempts to contact this employee yesterday proved futile.

Mr Bugeja said the council had ruled out the involvement of other student organisations and had filed a police report.
