I cannot understand whether it’s obstinacy or sheer stupidity in persisting to write the name of a street incorrectly. I am referring to the word ‘Fremantle’ in the street which carries the name of Sir Arthur Fremantle at San Pawl tat-Tarġa in Naxxar.

The surname of this personality is invariably spelt (officially) as ‘Freemantle’.

I drew the attention of the authorities about this error some 12 years ago. The name was corrected for some time; but then it seems a new set of street names was produced; and we went back to square one. Because of this, everyone who uses this name spells it incorrectly.
