The bold step taken by the majority of the members of the Sliema Business Community in endorsing the plans for the pedestrianisation of Bisazza Street, Sliema (April 16) should be seen as a milestone by whoever envisages car-free havens.

The fact that the area is also undergoing a thorough embellishment proves that the government is intent on delivering on its promise to upgrade public areas and to offer a better quality of life to all citizens. The project, which has now been finalised in Bisazza Street, should not be seen as a project for Sliema residents only but for all who visit Sliema for their various needs.

My word of thanks goes to the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs that is heading this project and others that have been completed, which have truly changed the face of Sliema. Well done!
