People with a story to tell will be giving snappy presentations in Valletta this evening as part of the global Pecha Kucha movement.

Organised by Maltese-Australian Nicole Bearman, the evening will see architects, designers, restaurateurs and others give brief presentations on a variety of subjects.

The concept was devised by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham back in 2003, in a bid to do away with dragging architectural presentations.

Each speaker has 20 seconds for each of their 20 slides, making them concise and accessible for lay people.

This will be the fifth event held in Malta after Ms Bearman was given the go-ahead by the Pecha Kucha head offices to designate Valletta a Pecha Kucha city.

The term is Japanese for “chit-chat”, but also implies a quick exchange of views.

Tomorrow’s event will be held at Blitz art gallery on St Lucy Street, Valletta, at 8pm.
