The third round of the FIA Formula 4 Italian Championship at Mugello was quite eventful for Malta Formula Racing team.

Mattia Drudi was determined to claim his second podium finish after Imola, finishing third and fourth in the opening two races.

However, it was Drudi who suffered most after he was pushed off track followed by a spine-chilling rollover accident with Takashi Kasai, of Prema Power Team.

Drudi and Kasai were battling for fourth place in lap 15 of the third race. Instead of assisting Drudi, Kasai showed an unsporting attitude by kicking Drudi’s helmet and car several times after the accident.

On the other hand, Maltese driver Keith Camilleri enjoyed a positive start in race one, finishing ninth, but dropped to 17th in race two after the set-up of his Tatuus F4 T104 was slightly modified and his car was not drivable.

Although the team worked hard to revert to the previous race set-up, Camilleri was still not happy and went to great lengths to keep control of his car on track while racing.

Further to this, the track surface was not helping Camilleri who spun off track on various occasions and had to retire from the third race on lap nine.

After the ups and downs of Mugello, Malta Formula Racing have now set their sights on the official testing on Tuesday at Vallelunga Circuit followed by round four of the FIA F4 Italian championship at the Magione Circuit on August 2 and 3.
