Nine statues of historic Maltese personalities have been restored in Floriana’s Maglio Gardens.

The monuments commemorate Luigi Preziosi, Adrian Dingli, Ugo Mifsud, Joseph Scicluna, Hannibal Scicluna, Filippo Sceberras, Vincenzo Bugeja, Aloisio Pisani and Giovanni Di Nicolo Pappaffy.

Works carried out by the Heritage Res Co tackled the effects of natural weathering caused mainly by salt deposition, as well as the effects of vandalism.

The project was coordinated by Din l-Art Ħelwa and sponsored by FIMBank.

FIMBank president Margrith Lütschg-Emmenegger said: “The personalities which these monuments commemorate contributed greatly to Malta’s social development and the transformation of the islands into a community of which we, as a Malta-based institution, are proud to form part.”
