The film showcases a new direction for Warner Bros’ DC superhero universe, which has taken a more dramatic and serious tone in action films such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Leto has raised eyebrows with his method acting as The Joker, admitting to sending live rats, a dead pig and bullets to his co-stars.

Meanwhile, Robbie, who plays his girlfriend Harley Quinn, and Delevingne, who takes on sorceress Enchantress, have been making headlines with their saucy revelations, including Delevingne’s love of the Mile High Club, on their promotional tour for the David Ayer-directed film. Smith stars as Deadshot, one of the anti-hero crew hired by government agent Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to execute a dangerous mission to defeat an unknown but powerful force in exchange for clemency.
