The basilica of Our Lady of Porto Salvo and St Dominic in Valletta is undergoing a major restoration project. During the past weeks an altarpiece showing St Vincent Ferrer preaching to the Moors underwent a cleaning process. The altarpiece is by Italian artist Francesci, who executed his work in Rome in the early 20th century. The restoration and cleaning was done by Manuel Zammit of Żejtun. The painting was inaugurated recently by parish priest Fr Michael Camilleri, who is in charge of the overall restoration taking place at St Dominic’s.
