One of the four all-Premier League clashes in the third round of the FA Cup is the tie between Burnley and Tottenham at Turf Moor on Monday.

In their last few outings, Burnley have shown that they are no pushovers, even if they are in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

They caused a surprise last week after coming from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Manchester City and repeated the same feat on Thursday after fighting back to hold Newcastle 3-3 at St James’ Park.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche was delighted with his side’s comeback feats as his players produced great fighting spirit and character not to finish empty-handed on both occasions.

Tottenham are on a high after handing London rivals Chelsea a 5-3 beating on New Year’s Day.

On Monday, the Spurs will be looking to live up to their reputation as perennial FA Cup contenders at Turf Moor.

Harry Kane has been a revelation for Tottenham this season.

On Thursday, the striker continued to impress with two more goals against Chelsea. His running and never-say-die character hint at a bright future for the Tottenham youngster.

Tottenham beat Burnley 2-1 in a Premier League match at White Hart Lane on December 20.

In the FA Cup, Burnley and Tottenham played each other in the final of 1962.

The Spurs prevailed 3-1 on that occasion with goals from Greaves, Smith and Blanchflower.

These two teams have met on six other occasions in the FA Cup:

1966 (fourth round): Tottenham-Burnley 4-3.
1963 (third round): Tottenham-Burnley 0-3.
1961 (semi-final, neutral): Tottenham-Burnley 3-0.
1909 (third round replay): Burnley-Tottenham 3-1.
1909 (third round): Tottenham-Burnley 0-0.
1906 (first round): Tottenham-Burnley 2-0.

Arsenal and Hull, last season’s cup finalists at Wembley, clash again tomorrow with the Gunners enjoying home advantage.

In last season’s showdown, Arsenal overturned a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 thanks to Aaron Ramsey’s extra-time winner. The other scorers for the Londoners in the final were Santi Cazorla and Laurent Koscielny.

In their first round league match this season, the Tigers held the Gunners to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

Another big-boys’ tie takes place at the King Power Stadium this afternoon as Leicester entertain Newcastle.

At the same venue in the league this season, the spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw.

On Tuesday, off-form Everton host three-time winners West Ham United at Goodison Park in another all-Premier League clash.

There are five non-league sides in the third round.

As the lowest-ranked surviving team in this season’s KO, Blyth Spartans, of the Northern Premier League, had been hoping for Premier League opposition. Instead they got Championship outfit Birmingham who must visit their Croft Park home on the Northumberland coast this afternoon.

Conference Premier side Dover Athletic play at their Crabble Athletic Ground against Premier League team Crystal Palace who had a turbulent Christmas period following the departure of coach Neil Warnock.

Conference club Gateshead also take on Premier League opposition after being handed a trip to face West Brom at the Hawthorns.

Gateshead, in mid-table of the Conference, are managed by Gary Mills who was at York last season.

Mills remarked that he was glad to become part of the non-league side’s history, progressing to the third round proper for the first time since 1954-55.

Southport visit Steve McClaren’s Derby, the Championship high-fliers.

In the previous round, Southport knocked out League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge.

Wrexham, meanwhile, travel to Stoke City boosted by memories of fine cup wins against the likes of Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Ipswich and Newcastle when the Welsh side were in the Football League.

Interestingly, Cambridge were drawn to play Luton Town.

The League Two sides earned Football League recognition last season after earning promotion via the Conference League.
