A sprayer who helped himself to different items from a residence in Tarxien, including crystal chandeliers, bathroom mixer taps and electrical fittings, was yesterday jailed for three years.
Magistrate Francesco Depasquale heard Christian Bonello, 29, from Paola, plead guilty to stealing the items, including paintings, between October 17 and last Monday.
Mr Bonello also stole paintings, light fittings and tools from the house in Lampuka Street to sustain his drug habit.
He further admitted to being a relapser and to committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term.
Magistrate Depasquale said he had “no choice” but to jail him for three years and recommended that he starts a drug rehabilitation programme.
Police Inspectors Hubert Cini and Spiridione Zammit prosecuted. Lawyer Duncan Borg Myatt appeared for the accused.
