Snooker: Judd Trump reached the final of the new European Masters in Romania with a 6-2 defeat of Mark Selby, yesterday. Victory today would give Trump the sixth world ranking title of his career and second of the year having won the China Open in April. The 27-year-old will face Ronnie O’Sullivan, who beat Neil Robertson 6-0, for the €75,000 top prize.

Tennis: Andy Murray recovered from a slow start to surge into the final of the China Open with victory over Spanish player David Ferrer yesterday. Murray was a break down in the opening set before hitting back to win the next five games in a row on his way to a 6-2 6-3 win in Beijing. The 29-year-old will face Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in today’s final after Milos Raonic, of Canada, was unable to start their semi-final due to an ankle injury.

Motor Racing: Sauber will continue to use 2016-specification Ferrari engines next season after deciding to focus their resources on building a better chassis, team principal Monisha Kaltenborn said. The struggling Swiss-based Formula One team are last in the standings and still without a point after 16 of the season’s record 21 races. Including last year’s results, they have not scored for 19 races in a row.

Tennis: Nick Kyrgios battered Gael Monfils 6-4 6-4 and David Goffin outlasted Marin Cilic 7-5 6-4 yesterday to advance to the Japan Open final in Tokyo. Australian Kyrgios is yet to drop a set in the tournament and he overpowered the French second seed in one hour 30 minutes. Belgian Goffin, who will play his first ATP final of the season today, trailed 5-3 in the opening set, but he broke back and won the next four games against Croatian Cilic.
