Rugby Union: Australia coach Michael Cheika has stuck with David Pocock and Michael Hooper in his back row for this weekend’s Rugby Championship clash against South Africa but dropped blindside flanker Scott Fardy for the Brisbane test. In the other personnel change to the starting line-up for Saturday’s Lang Park test, Reece Hodge will win his second cap on the left wing with Dane Haylett-Petty switching to right flank in place of the injured Adam Ashley-Cooper.

Cricket: Pakistan routed England by nine wickets in the one-off Twenty20 international in Manchester to end their tour on a high. England, who won the one-day series 4-1, struggled to 135 for seven after making a good start before Pakistan adapted to the conditions much better and eased to their target with more than five overs to spare. Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif shared a destructive opening partnership of 107 off 11 overs and after Sharjeel departed for 59 the touring side cruised to their target.

Golf: Ryder Cup wildcard Thomas Pieters pulled out of the Dutch Open yesterday after suffering an allergic reaction to a bee sting.  Pieters, 24, was stung during a challenge round earlier in the week. “One bee sting on Monday during the golf challenge against @joostluitengolfer led to a major allergic reaction with flu symptoms, and forced me to pull out of my favourite tournament of the year,” the Belgian said.
