Ice Hockey: The Pittsburgh Penguins will once again have to claim an extra piece of baggage when they return home with the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup following a 3-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday. After failing to clinch the title at home on Thursday, the Penguins returned to San Jose with a 3-2 series lead and used a clinical display of hockey to ensure the championship would not require a decisive seventh game. It marked the fourth time in franchise history that the Penguins won the coveted Stanley Cup but just like the previous three (1991, 1992 and 2009) they had to celebrate on the road.

Motor Racing: IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden broke a collarbone but escaped serious injury in a horrific crash during the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway. Newgarden was passing Conor Daly on the outside of Turn 4 when Daly lost traction and the back end of his car got loose and turned into Newgarden’s path.

America’s Cup: A consistent set of results lifted Swedish boat Artemis Racing to the top in the Chicago leg of the America’s Cup World Series (ACWS) that finished on Sunday. In front of a large crowd at Chicago’s Navy Pier, Artemis finished second in the first race on Friday, and then second, first and fourth on Sunday on Lake Michigan, the first freshwater venue in America’s Cup history, to pile up 61 points and claim the regatta.

Triathlon: Olympic triathlon champion Alistair Brownlee showed he is in great shape to defend his title in Rio de Janeiro in August with an emphatic win in a world series race in Leeds last weekend. Briton Brownlee broke clear of brother Jonny at the start of the running stage and surged to victory over his younger sibling by 32 seconds, roared on by packed crowds in their home city. Australian Aaron Royle finished third with world champion Javier Sanchez, of Spain, fourth.
