Cycling: Australian Richie Porte has confirmed he will leave Team Sky at the end of the season after four years as a domestique de luxe in the British outfit. “Yes it’s true... I’m leaving the team. I’m going. But it’s important to know that I’m leaving the team on really good terms and I want to finish my fourth year with them on a real high,” Porte wrote in a column in the Sydney Morning Herald yesterday.

Dress code: F1 ace Lewis Hamilton missed the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday after he was refused entry to the Royal Box for falling foul of its strict dress code. The 30-year-old world champion was among the select group of guests invited to watch the showdown between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer from the exclusive seats on Centre Court. But he set tongues wagging after he was unable to take his seat and left Wimbledon before the final had finished. Men who are invited to the Royal Box must wear a tie, jacket and shoes, rules say.

Rugby Sevens: Canada rolled to double gold in the Pan American Games rugby sevens tournament as the women’s team crushed arch-rivals the United States in the title game while the men eked out a narrow victory over Argentina. After spotting the United States an early try, Canada’s women shifted into top gear and roared back to claim an easy 55-7 win before turning over the stage to the men, who came back to beat Argentina 22-19 in a thriller. It marked the first time women’s rugby sevens has been contested at the Pan Am Games, with the sport set to make its Summer Games debut next year at the Rio Olympics.
