Boxing: Former champion Ricky Hatton believes fellow Briton Amir Khan could give pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather “his biggest problem”. Rumours are rife that Khan will become unbeaten May-weather’s next opponent in May 2014 in a lucrative bout for the WBC welterweight title. Hatton said: “Amir could give Floyd his biggest problem if he doesn’t get drawn in and shows loads of movement. Amir is the only one that could probably match Mayweather for speed.”

Rugby Union: England prop Alex Corbisiero has been ruled out of Saturday’s test against New Zealand due to a knee injury. The British & Irish Lion came on at half-time in last week’s 31-12 victory over Argen-tina after missing the previous game. England were already without loosehead prop Mako Vunipola and Joe Marler suffered concussion during the match against Argentina, so coach Stuart Lancaster may have to call on Matt Mullan who has only played one international.

Basket, NBA: Los Angeles power forward Jordan Hill scored a career-best 21 points and grabbed 11 re-bounds, sparking the Lakers to a 116-95 victory over New Orleans Pelicans. Hill used his frequent bursts of activity and boosted the Lakers on a second-quarter spurt that allowed them to take a double-digit lead and cruise. The Lakers (4-5) snapped a two-game losing streak and avenged Friday’s setback to the Pelicans (3-5), who lost their second in a row.

Swimming: Eleven-time Olympic medallist Ryan Lochte will miss the Duel in the Pool in Glasgow next month. The 29-year-old suffered a knee injury when an over-zealous fan ran at him last month. It means Lochte will sit out the event at the Tollcross Pool which sees the US against the European All-Stars at the pool where the Commonwealth Games will be held in July. Lochte won two golds at the 2012 London Olympics to take his total to five. The American has also won three silver and three bronze Olympics medals.
