Basket, NBA: Los Angeles Lakers centre Chris Kaman injured a finger while sledding in China but the injury is not serious. The Lakers are in China to play two pre-season games against Golden State Warriors. While visiting the Great Wall of China, players and staff took a toboggan down a slope at the Mutianyu portion of the wall. Kaman sped down the slippery track unharmed, but was barged into by team-mate Shawne Williams, according to the Los Angeles Times. Kaman instincti-vely put out a hand as he saw Williams careening towards him and hurt one of his fingers. Kaman said he expects to play today.

American Football: Kansas City football fans were ‘loud and proud’ of their undefeated Chiefs on Sunday, cheering the home team to victory in a display of eardrum-splitting support that scored the loudest crowd roar on record at an open-air stadium, according to league officials. A Guinness World Record official on site pegged the noise at Arrowhead Stadium in the fourth quarter at 137.5 decibels, as the Chiefs defeated Oakland Raiders, the National Football League and Chiefs offi-cials said. The sold-out crowd shattered the stadium’s previous noise level record of 116 decibels and broke past the previous world record of 136.6 decibels set by Seattle Seahawks fans at home.

Golf: Rory McIlroy’s split with leading tennis player Caroline Wozniacki is the latest chapter in a frustrating year for the young Northern Irishman. Media reports yester-day said the twice major winner had ended his two-year relation-ship with ex-tennis number one Wozniacki, the news coming on the same day that McIlroy began legal action in a Dublin court against former management company Horizon Sports. Neither side explained the reasons for the 24-year-old’s decision to part company with Horizon but media reports said the golfer was unhappy with the commission the Dublin firm was charging for its services.McIlroy and Dane Woz-niacki were one of sport’s glamour couples and were frequently seen supporting each other when their hectic schedules allowed.

Rugby Union: Australia centre Christian Lealiifano will miss this weekend’s Bledisloe Cup test against New Zealand because of an ankle injury in a big blow to the Wallabies’ chances of upsetting the world champions. Lealiifano has played all nine matches this year since making his test debut against the British and Irish Lions in June and his assured place-kicking could be a major loss with points likely to be at a premium for the Wallabies on Saturday. Defeats in the Rugby Championship tests mean the All Blacks are assured of retaining the Bledisloe Cup this year but a first victory over their trans-Tasman Sea rivals in New Zealand since 2001 would be a huge boost to the Wallabies.
