Cricket: Australia batsman David Warner has been dropped from the team’s Champions Trophy match against New Zealand for an alleged physical altercation with an England player. “Warner... was allegedly invol-ved in (an incident) with an England player in the early hours of Sunday morning following the ICC Champions Trophy match between the teams in Birmingham,” Cricket Australia said. The 26-year-old batsman was fined A$5,750 ($5,400) last month by Cricket Australia for a Twitter outburst against two journalists.

Basket, NBA: Danny Green and Gary Neal delivered career-best perfor-mances to lift the San Antonio Spurs to a 113-77 blowout win over the Miami Heat and a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven NBA Finals. The two players, each playing in their first NBA Finals, combined for 51 points for the Spurs, who are in the Finals for the first time since winning their fourth NBA title in 2007.

Golf: Sergio Garcia on Tuesday made repeated apologies for the “fried chicken” jibe he directed at Tiger Woods last month, saying he “felt terrible” and had left a note for the American in his locker. Though the two players shook hands on the practice range at Merion Golf Club on Monday in their first meeting since Garcia made the reference, the Spaniard said it had not been an “appropriate place” for him to apologise to Woods in person. Garcia conceded that the fall-out from the whole affair could distract him in his bid to win this week’s US Open and expressed his hope that Woods would read the note at some point.
