Athletics: Double Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt will race in the Zurich leg of the Diamond League on August 30. Bolt kicked off his season on home soil last week, winning the Jamaica International Invitational in a world-leading 9.82 seconds. He is scheduled to run the 100m in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on May 25.

Archery: The race for a spot on Australia’s Olympic archery team has landed in court, with one teenage contender telling a magistrate she was intimidated by her rival’s father. Fourth-ranked Odette Snazelle, 18, is seeking an apprehended violence order against Archery New South Wales president Jon Barnard, alleging he intimidated her during Olympic qualifying events. Snazelle said Barnard, whose daughter Elisa is Australia’s third-placed female archer, had stared her down as she attempted her shots during contests this year.

Fencing: Two-time Olympic fencing champion Laura Flessel (picture) will be France’s flag-bearer at this summer’s Olympic Games in London, French Olympic chief Denis Masseglia said. Flessel, who won individual and team golds at the 1996 Atlanta Games, will be competing in her fifth Olympics in the British capital, and was selected after a secret poll of the five representatives of the national Olympic committee.

Cricket: Five Indian Premier League players were suspended from cricket on Tuesday as fresh fixing allegations hit the game and threatened to further tarnish a competition already dogged by controversy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) moved swiftly after a sting operation by a local TV channel highlighted alleged fixing and corruption in domes-tic matches.

Basket, NBA: Russell Westbrook scored a game-high 27 points and Kevin Durant had 25 points as Oklahoma City embarrassed Los Angeles Lakers 119-90 in their NBA Western Conference second-round play-off series opener on Monday. The Thunder led by as many as 35 points thanks to 53 per cent shooting from the floor and superb performances from starters Westbrook, Durant and reserve guard James Harden.
