Horse Racing: Graham Lee suffered a serious leg injury after taking a bad fall at Southwell yesterday. The Grand National-winning jockey was unseated at the fourth-last aboard Rich Lord, trained by Ferdy Murphy, in the opening Win Whatever The Result With BetAngel Handicap Chase. Lee was taken to hospital in Nottingham for further assessment and racing was delayed while a replacement ambulance was called to the track.

Tennis: Caroline Wozniacki, playing her first match since losing her world number one ranking, crashed out of the Qatar Open yesterday, squandering three match points in a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7/3) defeat to Lucie Safarova. There was also misery for defending champion Vera Zvonareva who quit with a hip injury midway through her second round match against Romania’s Monica Niculescu when she was trailing 7-5, 3-2.

Basketball, NBA: Jeremy Lin (picture) scored a game-high 27 points and a career-high 11 assists as the New York Knicks rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Toronto 90-87 on Tuesday. Lin scored the game-winning three pointer with half a second left in the fourth for the Knicks, who have won six consecutive games. Lin also surpassed Shaquille O’Neal’s league record for the most points in his first five games as a starter. Lin has 136 points over that span, compared with O’Neal’s 129.

Rugby Union: France and Ireland rugby fans have until February 24 to claim their money back for tickets to the Six Nations match that was postponed from last weekend to March 4. The game was supposed to have been played on Saturday but English referee Dave Pearson was forced to postpone the match minutes before the kick-off because parts of the Stade de France pitch were frozen.

Cricket: India’s cancer-stricken World Cup star Yuvraj Singh said yesterday he was inspired after getting a message from US cycling legend Lance Armstrong wishing him a speedy recovery. “Message from @lancearmstrong makes me feel better! Thank you lance means a lot hope we can meet,” tweeted Yuvraj.
