Tennis: Former world no.5 Fernando Gonzalez, of Chile, revealed this week that he intends to play three more tournaments before retiring. “I’ve decided to end my career as a professional in Miami,” said 31-year-old Gonzalez of the tournament which begins on March 21. The 2007 Australian Open finalist will also play in tournaments in Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.

Basketball: Houston will host the 2013 All-Star game, the third time the Texas city has staged the NBA’s mid-season showcase. The league said this week that its 62nd All-Star exhibition will be played on February 17, 2013 at the Houston Rockets’ Toyota Centre arena. Houston also hosted the All-Star game in 1989 and 2006. This year’s All-Star game will be played in Orlando, Florida, on February 26.

Doping: Rafael Nadal (picture) has attacked a televised French satirical puppet show that implied he and other Spanish sports stars are drug cheats, saying it had crossed the line. The sketches on Canal Plus France’s show “Les Guignols,” whipped up a storm of outrage in Spain, leading the foreign minister to order formal protests to French media.

Boxing: Manny Pacquiao is poised to fight Timothy Bradley on June 9 in Las Vegas after the unbeaten American agreed in principle to a deal, reports in the US media said. Earlier this week, US papers said Philippine icon Pacquiao had agreed to put his World Boxing Organisation welter-weight belt on the line against Bradley, but that terms had not been finalised. “This is about being the number one fighter in the world, and that’s what my goal has been for as long as I can remember,” Bradley said.
