Kirchhoff: Sunderland have suffered another injury blow with Jan Kirchhoff having suffered a cartilage tear. He is their fifth midfielder now out of action. Manager David Moyes revealed the injury at a news conference yesterday. “As yet there is no timeframe,” he said. Kirchhoff, a Germany Under-21 international signed from Bayern Munich last January, did the damage in Wednesday’s 1-0 home defeat by league leaders Chelsea.

Dembele: Mauricio Pochettino will make a late decision on Mousa Dembele’s fitness ahead of Tottenham’s game at home to Burnley tomorrow. Dembele missed Spurs’ win over Hull on Wednesday with a foot injury but could recover in time for the match at White Hart Lane. Erik Lamela, however, is out as he is still struggling with a hip problem while Vincent Janssen is also unavailable with an ankle injury.

Brown: Celtic skipper Scott Brown is suspended for the Premiership clash with Dundee at Parkhead today. The Hoops midfielder has gone through the disciplinary points threshold but manager Brendan Rodgers will be boosted by the return to the squad of winger Scott Sinclair who has recovered from a hamstring problem.

Oxford: Reece Oxford has marked his 18th birthday by penning a new four-and-a-half-year contract with West Ham. Oxford, who can play in central defence or midfield, made his Premier League bow for the club at the age of 16. The highly-rated teenager said: “I am happy to have signed my new contract. There was a lot of speculation about my future but I am happy that it has been done.”

Zaza: West Ham have told Simone Zaza he can leave the club in January, Skysports reported. The Italy striker joined the club on loan from Juventus in August and West Ham have decided not to take up the option of making the move permanent. Zaza has failed to score in 11 appearances and has missed the past two games with a knee injury.

Tadic: Southampton will hope Dusan Tadic has an extra spring in his step when they face Bourne-mouth tomorrow after the winger was named Serbia’s player of the year. Tadic will receive his award at a gala next week.
