Charity match: Former Ar-gentina and Napoli great Diego Maradona will be joined by Italy World Cup winners Francesco Totti and Gianluca Zambrotta among others for a charity match next Wednesday. Ronaldinho will also play a part in the game – United for Peace – at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Funds will be raised for social initiatives to integrate children fleeing from war. Coach Fabio Capello will be responsible for one of the two selections on the day.

Hysaj: Napoli wing-back Elseid Hysaj has prolonged his contract at the Serie A club until 2022. Hysaj, formerly of Empoli, and his agent had been in talks with Napoli for some time but negotiations were concluded in London this week. “We’ve already signed everything and the contract has been deposited,” agent Mario Giuffredi said. “Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis will decide when to make it public. The extension includes an option until 2022.”

West Ham film: Karren Brady has announced West Ham United are producing a film documenting their move to the London Stadium. The Hammers left their Upton Park home at the end of last season to take up residence at the former Olympic Stadium but the move has been blighted by poor form and supporter unrest. Brady said: “We are making a film called ‘Iron Men’. It is about West Ham United supporters and the move from the Boleyn to the Olympic Stadium and what the move means to them.”

Buddies boss: St Mirren have appointed Jack Ross as their new manager. The Buddies have been on the look-out for a boss since sacking Alex Rae last month. Now – after failing with bids for Billy Davies, Neil Warnock and John Hughes – the Paisley outfit have turned to Alloa manager Ross. The 40-year-old spent two years as a player with Saints but his task now will be to turn their season around. The club sit bottom of the Scottish Championship without a win from eight games so far.
