Danilo: Danilo Silva will not play for Dynamo Kiev in tomorrow’s Champions League group opener against Napoli as the Brazilian defender suffered an injury during the 1-1 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in a league match on Saturday. Danilo had to leave the pitch midway through the first half with a pulled hamstring.

Jansson: Championship strugglers Leeds United confirmed they will sign defender Pontus Jansson permanently if he makes 20 appearances this season following his loan move from Torino last month. The Swedish centre-half revealed there’s a clause in his deal stating that Leeds will have to sign him long-term should he feature often enough until next May.

Altidore: Jozy Altidore scored his sixth goal in the last eight games to help Toronto FC climb back to the top of the MLS Eastern Conference with a 2-1 win over Chicago Fire. Altidore opened the scoring from Justin Morrow’s cross before setting up Jonathan Osorio to double the lead soon after half-time. Michael de Leeuw head the Fire back into the game almost immediately but they could not find an equaliser.

Terry: Antonio Conte is confident John Terry will be fit to take on Liverpool after the Chelsea captain suffered an ankle injury in a controversial 2-2 draw at Swansea. Terry’s participation for Liverpool’s Premier League visit to Stamford Bridge on Friday was thrown into doubt when he pulled up in the closing stages of the match. “I don’t know the extent of the injury but tomorrow we will see the situation about his ankle,” said Conte. “But he is a warrior and I am not worried.

Mirabelli: Sky Italia reported yesterday that Milan have opted for Massimiliano Mirabelli as their new director of sport. Mirabelli is currently employed at city rivals Inter as their scouting chief. At present, Milan are in the process of getting their new board in place following the takeover by Chinese investors. CEO Marco Fassone is heading the exercise. Fassone knows Mirabelli well having been Inter CEO before joining the Milan boardroom.
