Negredo: Middlesbrough agreed a deal to sign Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo on a season-long loan. Paperwork is still to be completed but the 30-year-old former Manchester City forward has already linked up with Boro at their pre-season training camp in Marbella. Negredo was a member of the City side which won the Premier League title in 2014.

Bolton: Bolton have announced that Dean Holdsworth has resigned from his role as director of football. The former striker, who played for Bolton from 1997 until 2003, led the Sports Shield consortium that took over the club in March this year for £7.5 million, preventing it from liquidation. He will remain as a shareholder. Bolton begin life in League One following their relegation last season, with Phil Parkinson taking over as manager.

Hanley: Newcastle are close to signing Blackburn defender Grant Hanley for a reported fee of £5.5 million. Rovers boss Owen Coyle was keen to retain the Scotland international but reports said negotiations between the two clubs have reached a satisfactory conclusion. Hanley is set to travel north to Tyneside to complete a medical but that will not happen until today at the earliest as the Magpies travelled to Doncaster for a pre-season friendly yesterday.

Heaton: Burnley captain Tom Heaton has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at Turf Moor until 2020. The 30-year-old, who was in England’s squad at the European Championship last month, will compete with Paul Robinson and new signing Nick Pope for a place in the first team. The goalkeeper played 46 league games last season as Burnley secured promotion to England’s top flight by winning the Championship.

Dodoo: Rangers have completed the signing of Joe Dodoo after the former Leicester striker agreed a four-year deal with the Ibrox outfit. The 21-year-old frontman has spent the past week training with Mark Warburton’s team and has impressed enough to become Gers’ ninth summer signing.

Iheanacho: Kelechi Iheanacho has been included in Manchester City’s squad for their pre-season tour of China. There were suggestions the 19-year-old Nigeria striker would not be able to travel due to visa issues. Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling, members of England’s Euro 2016 squad, were also in a 34-man playing group, as were new signings Oleksandr Zinchenko and Nolito.

Europa League: FC Kapaz vs Admira Moedling 0-2 (agg: 0-3).
