Dodoo: Rangers manager Mark Warburton hopes to have the signing of Leicester City forward Joe Dodoo wrapped up by early next week. The 21-year-old is keen on a move to Glasgow after training with Rangers this week and the two clubs are discussing a deal. Dodoo is out of contract but Leicester are due compensation as they offered him a new deal.

Mastour: PEC Zwolle have signed Milan youngster Hachim Mastour on a season-long loan. The 18-year-old spent last season on loan to Spanish side Malaga, making one solitary appearance for them, and will now look to gain first-team experience at the Dutch club.

Makudi: The investigatory chamber of FIFA’s independent ethics committee has asked for former executive committee member Worawi Makudi to be banned from football for at least four years for allegedly breaching the world football’s governing body’s code of conduct. Makudi, the former president of the Thailand Football Association, should also pay a fine of at least 25,000 Swiss francs ($25,538.87) for alleged violation of the general rules of conduct, the chamber said in a statement yesterday.

Twins: Twins Lars and Sven Bender have been included in the Germany squad for next month’s Olympics. The midfielders, who play for Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund respectively, will both miss much of pre-season for their clubs after being selected by Germany coach Horst Hrubesch as two of his experienced picks for the Games. Max Meyer and Julian Brandt are also part of the selection, together with current Under-21 captain Leon Goretzka.

Barragan: Valencia defender Antonio Barragan has joined promoted Middlesbrough on a three year contract, the Premier League side said yesterday. The 29-year-old right-back was on Liverpool’s books as an 18-year-old, making just one appearance in a Champions League qualifier, and becomes the sixth summer signing by Boro’s Spanish manager Aitor Karanka.

Gomez: Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has suffered a fresh injury setback in the form of an Achilles problem that it is understood will see him sidelined for the start of the season. The 19-year-old had been working his way back to fitness from the knee injury, sustained in October while playing for England Under-21s, which ended his 2015-16 campaign.
