Valencia: Valencia have signed Spanish midfielder Alvaro Medran from Real Madrid on a four-year contract, the Liga club said yesterday. Medran, who was impressive on loan at Getafe last season, scoring twice in 20 matches, is Valencia’s second close-season signing after Portugal winger Nani joined from Fenerbahce. Medran, 22, a Real youth product, played for the Madrid club in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League before joining Getafe on loan a year ago.

Udinese: Watford’s teenage forward Adalberto Penaranda will spend next season on loan at Udinese. The 19-year-old Venezuelan signed for the Hornets from the Italian club at the start of February, but he stayed on loan with La Liga side Granada. A club statement read: “Watford believe the highly rated 19-year-old’s progress is best served in the immediate future with regular first-team football.”

Ward: Goalkeeper Danny Ward has signed a long-term contract with Liverpool and will spend next season on loan with Championship outfit Huddersfield. The 23-year-old has agreed fresh terms at Anfield having made his first-team debut last season under Jurgen Klopp following a successful loan stint with Aberdeen.

MLS: Sporting Kansas City scored twice in the opening 16 minutes on the way to a 3-1 victory over New York City FC on Sunday, snapping the visitors’ four-game winning streak. Kansas City midfielder Benny Feilhaber and defender Jimmy Medranda sandwiched early goals around New York City midfielder Frank Lampard’s strike, while defender Ike Opara added another early in the second-half for the dominant home side.

Hull: Hull have been dealt a double blow ahead of their return to the Premier League with the news Allan McGregor and Alex Bruce could both be out for up to six months. Steve Bruce’s squad are currently in Portugal as part of their pre-season preparations and the Tigers boss confirmed that goalkeeper McGregor and defender Alex Bruce are set for extended spells on the sidelines with respective back and Achilles injuries.
