Old firm: Rangers will make their first visit to Celtic Park in four years on September 10 and the Old Firm giants will also meet on New Year’s Eve. The two sides met twice in cup action during Rangers’ journey back through the lower divisions but they are now preparing to square off on league duty for the first time since the Hoops’ 3-0 victory back in April 2012 at Celtic Park. Aberdeen begin with a trip to Perth to face St Johnstone.

Weiler: Anderlecht have reached agreement with Swiss Rene Weiler to take over as coach but are still in discussions with his last club Nuremberg. A brief statement on the Anderlecht website ended days of furious speculation over the identity of a new coach for the 33-time Belgian champions.

Gaitan: Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan. The 28-year-old Gaitan is currently on international duty with Argentina at the Copa America Centenario but will travel to Spain following the tournament in the US to finalise his move, Atletico announced in a statement on their website. Gaitan has previously been linked with Manchester United.

Balotelli: Liverpool misfit Mario Balotelli could be sold to Besiktas if his agent can strike a deal with the Turkish club. The Italy international spent last season on loan at Milan and his representative Mino Raiola was told as early as February to find him a new home this summer.

Malbranque: Caen have announced the signing of former Olympique Lyon midfielder Steed Malbranque. The 36-year-old free agent has agreed a one-year contract with Patrice Garande’s Ligue 1 side after ending his four-year stay with Lyon at the end of last season.
