Stranded: Thousands of Swedish fans planning to travel to France for Euro 2016 could be left stranded if a strike by pilots at Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is not resolved in time. The strike, which started on Friday after wage talks broke down, led to the cancellation of 220 flights yesterday affecting 26,000 passengers, many of them travelling to France where Sweden play Ireland today.

Palermo: Serie A’s Palermo have become the latest club in the Italian league to attract interest from Chinese investors. Sky Sport Italia reported Palermo are in negotiations with a Chinese group as well as investors from the US as club supremo Maurizio Zamparini intends to retire and sell this summer. Earlier this month, Inter sold the majority shares to Suning Group while rivals Milan are in advanced talks for a Chinese takeover as well.

Burrows: Motherwell general manager Alan Burrows will join the Fir Park board after being promoted to the role of chief operating officer. The club’s former head of communications took over the day-to-day running at Motherwell two years ago. Having represented the club at meetings involving the Scottish FA in particular, Motherwell’s directors have now decided Burrows’ efforts merit a loftier title.

Rudiger: Antonio Rudiger has undergone knee surgery and his club Roma said they’re expecting him to be back in November. The Germany defender tore a cruciate ligament in his right knee while preparing for Euro 2016 last week. Last season, Rudiger scored two goals in 37 competitive games for Roma.
