Roma Stadium: Roma have finalised the project of their new stadium, authorities confirmed yesterday. The Serie A club had to deal with various difficulties in their attempt to build a stadium of their own, but they have reached the point where the plan is officially registered. The project now passes in the hands of the Lazio regional authorities, who must approve the last phase before it can kick off.

Sacked: Deportivo La Coruna, who finished sixth from bottom in La Liga this season, have sacked coach Victor Sanchez. He signed a contract extension in January to remain in charge of the Galician outfit until the end of next season but the team won only two of their last 21 league games. The former Deportivo player and Spain international replaced Victor Fernandez in April 2015 and helped the club avoid relegation last season.

Bellerin: Hector Bellerin will go to Euro 2016 with defending champions Spain if Dani Carvajal fails to regain fitness in time, Vicente del Bosque has confirmed. The 21-year-old Arsenal right-back played 90 minutes as Spain beat Bosnia 3-1 on Sunday. Del Bosque was so impressed that he pledged to include Bellerin in his 23-man squad should Carvajal be ruled out.

Lanus Champs: Lanus overwhelmed San Lorenzo 4-0 in the Argentine championship final to win their second league title. The victory at the River Plate stadium was a deserved finish for Lanus, who were the best team in the competition. Lanus, a modest club from the southern suburbs of the capital who won their first title in 2007, had reached the final as runaway winners of Group B, finishing six points clear of second-placed Estudiantes after winning 12 of their 16 matches.
