Ledley out: Crystal Palace’s Joe Ledley is to miss the FA Cup final and is a major doubt for Euro 2016 after fracturing a fibula. The Wales international midfielder suffered what was a suspected Achilles injury in the recent 2-1 Premier League defeat of Stoke but it has since been confirmed as a more serious problem.

Points penalty: Dundee United have been deducted three points for including ineligible players in their squad during their 3-2 victory over Inverness last Friday. Ali Coote and Jamie Robson had both just returned from loan spells and should not have been listed by the Tayside club, who were already relegated from the Scottish Premiership.

Coates: Sunderland defender Sebastian Coates will spend the 2016-17 season on loan at Sporting Lisbon. The Uruguay international has been on loan with the Primeira Liga club since January and made 13 appearances for Sporting Lisbon, who are two points behind leaders Benfica with one game left.

Girard: Former France U-21 coach Rene Girard has been appointed as Nantes manager from next season. The 62-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Les Canaris alongside his assistants Gerard Bernadet and Nicolas Girard. He has been out of work since May last year after he could only achieve an eighth-placed finish with Lille. Current boss Michel Der Zakarian announced last month that he would be leaving at the end of the current season.

Andersen: Former Bundesliga top scorer Jorn Andersen is set to take over as head coach of the North Korean national soccer team, his family confirmed to Norwegian media yesterday. Family members told Norway’s state broadcaster NRK that the 53-year-old had signed a one-year deal with the notoriously secretive state, whose team are already out of the running for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Andersen’s last job in football was with Austria Salzburg, who he left in December.
