Celtic: Celtic will introduce safe-standing areas from the start of next season. The club confirmed in their season-ticket renewal information that rail seats would be installed over the summer. The modified area will be in the corner of the Lisbon Lions Stand at Celtic Park, where the Green Brigade fans’ group are located. Celtic were granted permission from authorities in June last year to introduce the safe standing area – based on versatile seating common at German football grounds.

McLeish: Egyptian Premier League club Zamalek’s manager Alex McLeish has left the team after just 65 days despite winning six of his 10 games while in charge, the club said. The former Rangers and Scotland coach is the fourth manager to leave Zamalek this season. His departure follows the sacking of two of his assistants in the last few weeks. In February, the 57-year-old took over from former Tottenham Hotspur striker Ahmed ‘Mido’ Hossam.

Closed doors: Trabzonspor have been ordered to play four games behind closed doors as a result of the crowd violence that saw their Super Lig game at Fenerbahce abandoned. A Trabzonspor supporter jumped over the barrier at the front of the stand and attacked goal-line official Volkan Bayarslan late in the game. A series of photographs on Fenerbahce’s website showed another visiting fan climbing to the top of a stand and pulling down Fenerbahce’s club flag.

Juanfran: Levante captain Juanfran has announced his retirement following his side’s relegation from the Primera Division. Levante’s six-year stay in Spain’s top flight came to an end after Monday’s 3-1 defeat to Malaga. They have two games remaining this season, against Atletico Madrid and Real Vallecano, with Juanfran expected to feature. The 39-year-old said: “These are not easy situations when one is not going to play any more.”
