Ajax: Ajax Amsterdam kept up their narrow lead over champions PSV Eindhoven at the top of the Dutch league as both teams won on the penultimate weekend of the championship to set up a decisive final day. Ajax crushed visitors Twente Enschede 4-0 and PSV overwhelmed bottom side SC Cambuur 6-2, leaving Ajax at the top with a better goal difference by six. Barring a massive turnaround, they will win back the title if they win at relegation-threatened De Graafschap next Sunday.

Bravo: Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo injured his calf in their 2-0 victory at Real Betis in La Liga on Saturday, making him a doubt for the final two games of their title challenge. The champions confirmed that Bravo, who was replaced by Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the 88th minute in some discomfort, had injured the soleus muscle in his right calf. The injury leaves Bravo a potential doubt for their remaining two matches at home to Espanyol and at Granada.

Vrsaljko: Sime Vrsaljko, of Sassuolo, is attracting attention outside the Serie A with Atletico Madrid reportedly showing interest in the wing-back. As newspaper said Atletico coach Diego Simeone is keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old Croatia international, who can also play on both wings when needed.

Feierabend dies: Hanover have announced the death of striker Niklas Feierabend at the age of 19 following a car accident. Feierabend, who had only been given his first professional contract in February having trained with the first team during the winter break, died yesterday morning. The midfielder had twice sat on the bench for the Reds in the Bundesliga this season, although he never made his first-team debut.

Vieira joy: Steven Mendoza’s late winner gave Patrick Vieira a first home win in charge of New York City FC. After five previously frustrating outings at the Yankee Stadium, Mendoza’s 73rd-minute effort finally gave New York some home comforts in a 3-2 MLS success over Vancouver Whitecaps.
