Crotone: Crotone were promoted to Serie A for the first time in their history following a 1-1 draw at Modena last night. The visitors picked up the point they needed to guarantee a maiden season in the top flight of Italian football thanks to Raffaele Palladino’s 44th-minute penalty, which cancelled out Davide Luppi’s opener after 17 minutes. The draw left the Calabrians 13 points clear of third-placed Trapani, who have four games left to play.

Silva: Manchester City will be without playmaker David Silva for two to three weeks, ensuring he will miss Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg at Real Madrid, manager Manuel Pellegrini said. The Chilean manager expressed his hope that the Spanish international might be fit should City reach the final in Milan on May 28. The bad news came as Pellegrini reiterated his annoyance that having to play a key league match tomorrow against Southampton might affect their European final ambitions.

Newcastle: Fabricio Coloccini and Daryl Janmaat will both be missing once again as relegation-troubled Newcastle United attempt to keep their survival hopes alive against Crystal Palace today. Skipper Coloccini is still missing with a calf problem while full-back Janmaat is recovering from groin and hand injuries, but the pair are due to resume training next week, the latter wearing a protective cast.

Redknapp: Harry Redknapp is to join the Central Coast Mariners as a football consultant, the A-League club have announced. Writing on their Twitter account during the club’s end-of-season dinner, the Mariners said: “Owner Mike Charlesworth announces that Harry Redknapp will join the Mariners as a consultant.” Former Tottenham boss Redknapp was recently in Australia as part of a two-game spell in charge of Jordan.

The Championship: Birmingham vs Middlesbrough 2-2.
