The 41-year-old, who represented Brazil at two World Cups, has captained Palmeiras since December 2014. He said: “It will certainly be my last year because I want to have more time with my family. I decided to play on for another year because the Libertadores was a big challenge for me.”

Kompany: Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is fit for tomorrow’s Premier League visit of second-placed Tottenham. Kompany, who has made just nine league appearances after battling a troublesome calf injury for a large part of the campaign, could return to the side for the first time since Dec. 26.

Warnock: Rotherham have appointed Neil Warnock as their new manager until the end of the season. The 67-year-old takes the helm at the New York Stadium following the departure of Neil Redfearn on Monday. The Millers sit 22nd in the league table, three points from safety.

Robinho: Former Manchester City and Real Madrid striker Robinho has signed for Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro. “Robinho is Atletico’s new signing,” the Belo Horizonte team said. “Robinho will sign for two seasons.”

Ameobi: Former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi has joined League One Fleetwood on a deal until the end of the season. The 34-year-old has been without a club since his contract with Bolton Wanderers came to an end last month.
