Ivanovic: Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has signed a one-year deal keeping him at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2016-17 season. The 31-year-old, made vice-captain at the start of the current season, said he considered Chelsea to be his home after eight years with the West Londoners. “There is no other place I would rather play football,” he said. “I have enjoyed so much success here.”

Bayern: Bayern Munich pulled 11 points clear of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga with a 2-1 win at Hamburg, yesterday. A Robert Lewandowski penalty gave Bayern the lead 10 minutes before half-time, but Aaron Hunt levelled for the hosts early in the second half. Lewandowski’s 17th goal of the season earned Bayern all points as they took another step towards a record fourth straight title.

Cleared: Rangers chairman Dave King has been cleared by the High Court of committing contempt of court over his dealings with Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley. Mr Justice Peter Smith ruled that the attempt to have King found guilty of contempt for breaching a gagging order should never been brought and was an abuse of process.

Sala bid: Nantes have turned down interest from Wolves in their Argentinian striker Emiliano Sala. The Championship side are seeking to replace Benik Afobe following his big-money departure to Bourne-mouth. But Nantes president Waldemar Kita told L’Equipe he would not sell 25-year-old Sala, who joined from Bordeaux in the summer.
