Ramsey: QPR have appointed former manager Chris Ramsey as technical director. The 53-year-old was sacked by the club in November, being replaced by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, but has returned to Loftus Road. Ramsey was in charge of Rangers between February and November last year, winning nine of his 32 games as they were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Elustondo: Real Sociedad defender Aritz Elustondo has signed a new contract with the club until 2020. The full-back came through the youth ranks and has become an important player for his hometown club. Elustondo has been rewarded with a new contract by Real Sociedad, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2020. “It’s a dream come true, the club has given me everything,” the defender said. “It is the best Christmas present.”
Poyet: West Ham midfielder Diego Poyet has rejoined Charlton on loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old, the son of former Chelsea and Tottenham player Gus Poyet, moved to Upton Park from the Addicks in 2014. Poyet was previously on loan at MK Dons, but was recalled by West Ham over the weekend after dropping out of favour. Poyet has now rejoined the club where he began his career and was named player of the year in 2013-14.
Asprilla: Colombian forward Danilo Asprilla has signed a deal to join United Arab Emirates champions Al Ain, ending his successful stint at Bulgarian club Litex Lovech. The skilful Colombian, who signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Al Ain, scored 25 goals in 74 appearances for Litex. He is the Bulgarian league’s top scorer with 11 goals after the first half of this season.
Totti: Roma stalwart Francesco Totti is still not ready to return to the side following a thigh muscle injury which has sidelined him for the last three months. The 39-year-old has not played since facing Carpi in late September and has been left out of the squad again for today’s match at Chievo. “Totti won’t be in the squad because he’s not yet at 100 percent,” coach Rudi Garcia said.
