Schweinsteiger: Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will serve a three-match ban for violent conduct following a clash with West Ham United’s Winston Reid in the Premier League last Saturday, the FA said yesterday. The German accepted the FA charge, relating to the incident where he appeared to floor Reid with his arm after the pair were jostling for space.

Swansea: Assistant manager Pep Clotet and coaches James Beattie and Kristian O’Leary have left Swansea City in the wake of manager Garry Monk’s departure. The management structure for tomorrow Premier League game against Manchester City will be announced in due course, the Welsh club said. Monk left on Wednesday following a dismal sequence of one win in 11 league games.

Bolton: Bolton have been served with a winding-up petition from HM Revenue and Customs over an unpaid tax bill. Wanderers’ alarming financial crisis has deteriorated rapidly over the past few weeks after it was revealed they had failed to pay their players for November, and now HMRC has rejected requests from them to be given more time to conclude a sale.

Cellino: Leeds chairman Massimo Cellino has been cleared by an Italian court of alleged tax evasion during his time as owner of Cagliari. The case related to the transfers of former Cagliari players Edgar Alvarez and Joe Bizera in 2007 but a government ruling introduced last October meant the alleged offences were no longer punishable by law and Cellino was acquitted. The ruling has no impact on the ban imposed on Cellino by the Football League in October after he was found guilty in a separate tax evasion case in Italy.

Galloway: Defender Brendan Galloway has been rewarded for his impressive displays for Everton with a new contract until June 2020. The 19-year-old full-back was handed his chance at first-team level at the end of last season following injuries to Leighton Baines and Bryan Oviedo and has not looked back.
