Fined: Spartak Moscow have been fined 100,000 roubles ($1,446.45) after their supporters burnt Turkish flags during a Russian Football Premier League match against Krylia Sovetov Samara. The incident, at the Otkrytie Arena in Moscow on Dec. 4, came 10 days after Turkish forces shot down a Russian war plane near the Turkish-Syrian border.

Charged: West Brom and Tottenham have been charged by the FA with failing to control their players in Saturday’s heated 1-1 draw. The charge relates to an incident late on when West Brom’s James McClean picked up a booking for a rash two-footed challenge on Mousa Dembele. The clubs previously clashed off-field during the summer, with Albion unhappy with Tottenham’s public pursuit of striker Saido Berahino.

Down under: Arsenal will play friendlies against Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers in July 2017, the Australian clubs confirmed yesterday, continuing a trend of English Premier League teams heading Down Under during the off-season. Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool all played in front of big crowds in Australia earlier this year, while Manchester United stopped off in Sydney during their Asia-Pacific pre-season tour of 2013. Arsenal have not played in Australia since 1977.

Coutinho: Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho has travelled with the squad for their final Europa League group game against Sion in Switzerland. The Brazil international has missed the last four matches with a hamstring injury but trained with the rest of the squad at Melwood before the team departed.
