Wolves: Owner Steve Morgan will sell Wolves if he receives a bid between £30m and £40m. The Molineux chief would give the green light for an offer closer to £40m plus an agreement for significant investment into the club to improve and maintain Wolves and protect his legacy, reports said yesterday. The process is ongoing and it is understood Wolves are in talks with several interested parties.

Quit threat: The core of Venezuela’s soccer squad have threatened to quit unless their federation’s directors resign, blaming them for the team’s dismal start to the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Venezuela have ended the year bottom of the 10-nation group with zero points after four matches. “We cannot carry on in an atmosphere already damaged by these directors,” 15 Venezuela internationals said in a statement.

Williamson: Newcastle have cut short centre-back Mike Williamson’s loan spell at Wolves after just over a month following an injury to Jamaal Lascelles. Williamson was a regular in the Newcastle side last season, but the 32-year-old was farmed out to second tier Wolves at the end of October after falling behind Lascelles and Chancel Mbemba in the pecking order.

Paris SG held: Runaway leaders Paris St Germain suffered a minor hiccup in their bid for a fourth straight Ligue 1 title when promoted Angers denied them a 10th consecutive win in a goalless stalemate yesterday. PSG, who had won all their league games since September 22, had the best chances but Angers goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle put in an impressive display throughout the match to keep them at bay at the Jean-Bouin Stadium.

Flum: Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Johannes Flum sustained a serious knee injury in training yesterday and had to be taken to hospital by helicopter. Flum clashed with team-mate Slobodan Medojevic, who was also slightly injured, and both players fell to the ground with Flum clearly in severe pain. The 27-year-old received initial treatment on the football pitch before being flown to hospital.
