Resigns: The president of the Colombian FA resigned unexpectedly yesterday, saying he was stepping down for “personal reasons,” a statement from the federation said. Luis Bedoya had ruled the federation since 2006 and was also one of the 11 members of Conmebol’s executive committee. His resignation comes two weeks after the federation’s accountant also resigned.

Scottish draw: Celtic will face Ross County in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup. The holders beat County 4-1 on Sunday in the Premiership and were paired again at the Hampden Park draw yesterday. Hibernian will play St Johnstone in the other semi. The games will take place on the weekend of January 30-31.

Crew through: Kei Kamara scored twice, including one in extra-time, as Columbus Crew beat Montreal Impact 3-1 and advanced to MLS’s Eastern Conference final. Columbus, who lost the first leg 2-1 last week, will face New York in the conference final after the Red Bulls edged DC United 1-0 on Sunday for a 2-0 aggregate victory.

MacDonald: Bournemouth midfielder Shaun MacDonald has been called into the Wales squad for Friday’s friendly with Holland. MacDonald replaces David Cotterill, who missed Birmingham’s 5-2 Championship victory at Fulham on Saturday with a knee injury and is expected to be sidelined for two or three weeks.

Derby trouble: Eight fans were arrested during Sunday’s north London derby between Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham and six were later charged. Images emerged during the game at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium of toilets being vandalised in the away section. That followed on from a League Cup fixture between the pair last month that saw Arsenal supporters pulling advertising hoardings off the stands at White Hart Lane.
