Xhaka: Borussia Moenchen-gladbach suffered another injury setback by losing Granit Xhaka for several weeks. The Swiss midfielder tore ankle ligaments while on international duty. He damaged the same ankle on which he picked up an injury a year ago during Switzerland’s 1-0 win over Estonia. Tests confirmed the worst fears with Xhaka now joining Nico Schulz and Patrick Herr-mann in the Moenchengladbach treatment room.

Coman: Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman was not as seriously injured as first feared while in action for France Under-21s this week, but could still miss Saturday’s Bundesliga game at Wer-der Bremen, the German champions said. The 19-year-old has been a revelation on the right wing after joining on a two-year loan deal from Juventus this season with undefeated Bayern top of the Bundesliga and their Champions League group. “Luckily Bayern will not have to be too long without Kingsley Coman,” the club said in a statement.

Empoli: Empoli want Mario Rui and Lorenzo Tonelli to extend their stay at the Serie A club. Both defenders contributed heavily last season as Empoli stayed away from the drop zone to keep their place in the top flight. Reports said negotiations with the two players are already ongoing and the parties involved are hopeful of striking a deal soon.

Evans: Jonny Evans is facing a race against time to return for West Brom against Sunderland and boost their depleted defence. The defender will be assessed, along with James Morrison, after missing Northern Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualification with a hamstring injury. Evans made 35 appearances during two loan spells at the Stadium of Light but faces missing a reunion when the Black Cats visit The Hawthorns on Saturday for Sam Allardyce’s first game in charge.

Moldova: UEFA has opened a disciplinary case against the Mol-dova Football Federation (FMF) after fans set off fireworks and displayed racist flags in last week’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Russia. The match, in Chisinau on October 9, was won by Russia 2-1. “The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary on 22 October 2015,” a statement said. Moldova finished their qualification campaign bottom of Group G with two points.
