Palace win: Crystal Palace moved into the Premier League’s top six by winning 1-0 away to Watford yesterday – record signing Yohan Cabaye sealing the points with a calmly-converted a penalty. The French midfielder’s 71st minute spot kick, awarded when Cameroonian fullback Allan Nyom fouled substitute Wilfried Zaha, was the first goal conceded by Watford at Vicarage Road in four games since being promoted from the Championship.

De Jong: An ankle injury is likely to keep PSV Eindhoven’s leading striker Luuk de Jong out of action for the Dutch club in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow. De Jong hurt his ankle in a tackle with Marcel Rizmaiern ion Saturday.

Dortmund: Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Auba-meyang struck twice against Darmstadt 98 yesterday to become the only player in Bundesliga history to score in the first seven matches of the season but a late Aytac Sulu goal spoiled his afternoon as the visitors rescued a 2-2 draw. Gabon international Aubameyang drilled in from close range in the 63rd minute to cancel out an early Marcel Heller goal for the visitors and quickly added another goal eight minutes later to take his season’s tally to nine

Villa: David Villa coolly converted a 95th-minute penalty, earned by Frank Lampard, to secure New York City a 2-1 Major League Soccer victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. Pedro Morales looked to have salvaged a point for the Western Conference-leading Whitecaps when he slotted home in the 88th minute - to cancel out Lampard’s slick 29th-minute opener. But there was more drama to come as Matias Laba was adjudged to have fouled Lampard deep in stoppage time and Villa stepped up to send David Ousted the wrong way.
