Livermore: Jake Livermore could make his competitive comeback when Hull host Swansea in the third round of the League Cup today. Livermore has not played since May, when details emerged of a positive in-game test for cocaine. After an investigation the Football Association decided earlier this month not to ban the 25-year-old due to mitigating circumstances relating to the death of his newborn son.

In Portugal: Two Portuguese league coaches have resigned following defeats on Sunday with Armando Evangelista leaving Vitoria Guimaraes and Jose Viterbo parting company with Academica . Evangelista quit Guimaraes yester-day after just five league games in charge in which his side managed one win. Viterbo quit Academica, who have lost their first five matches of the season, shortly after a 2-0 home defeat by Boavista on Sunday. He had been in charge for seven months.

Moldova: Moldova coach Alexandru Curteian stepped down from his position yesterday, according to the Moldovan Football Federation (FMF). The 41 year-old made the decision after meeting with FMF president Pavel Cebanu, said. The head coach of Zimbru Chisinau Stefan Stoica will prepare the side for their final two qualification matches against Russia and Sweden.

Cacic: Croatia have named Ante Cacic as their new coach in the wake of the sacking of Niko Kovac earlier this month. “Cacic has been signed unanimously on a three-year contract after extensive deli-berations within the Croatian Football Association‘s (HNS) executive board,” the body’s president Davor Suker said. “We are confident that we have a appointed a coach who will take Croatia to the European Championship finals.”

Ameobi: Shola Ameobi is set to train with Wolves this week ahead of a proposed move to the club. The 33-year-old is a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace and Kenny Jackett has revealed Ameobi will have talks with the club this week. Jackett said: “We are having Shola down for a couple of days training and talks. It is a ‘look and see’ both ways as he has other options.”
