Ruiz: Costa Rica captain Bryan Ruiz has joined Sporting Lisbon from Fulham on a three-year contract which includes a 60 million euros buyout clause. Apart from a six-month loan spell at PSV Eindhoven last year, the 29-year-old attacking midfielder spent four seasons at Fulham.

Wijnaldum: Newcastle face competition from Everton as they attempt to capture Holland international Georginio Wijnaldum. The Magpies have spent several weeks engaged in discussions with PSV over the highly-rated midfielder. However, reports said the Magpies have so far been unable to agree terms with the club and now Everton have formalised their interest in him.

Stoke tour: Stoke have named Asmir Begovic and Steven N’Zonzi in their squad for next week’s Asia Trophy in Singapore. Both goalkeeper Begovic and N’Zonzi have been linked with moves away from the Britannia Stadium ahead of the new season. Begovic has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United this summer while Spanish club Sevilla have confirmed their interest in N’Zonzi, who has 12 months remaining on his Stoke contract.

Kebe: Former Reading and Crystal Palace winger Jimmy Kebe is to have a trial with Mallorca. Kebe, 31, is a free agent after his Palace contract was cancelled in January, and although he has passed a medical with Mallorca they are not yet ready to commit to a contract due to concerns over his fitness after a year out of action. Kebe moved to Palace in 2013 after making 175 league appearances for Reading.

Fossati: Uruguayan Jorge Fossati, who steered Al Sadd to the AFC Champions League title in 2011, has returned to the Qatar Stars League to take charge of Al Rayyan. The 62-year-old, who had been in charge of Penarol in his homeland, was presented by the club’s officials late Tuesday.

Jansen: Former Germany international defender Marcell Jansen has announced his retirement from professional football aged 29 following his release by Hamburg at the end of last season. The left-back, who played 45 times for his country but was omitted from Joachim Loew’s final World Cup squad last summer, has decided to hang up his boots after Hamburg decided against offering him a contract extension.
